Eating Disorder Psychologist in Portland, Oregon

Dr. Kate Raineri, PsyD

Welcome—I’m glad you’re here!

I’m Dr. Kate Raineri, a licensed psychologist specializing in the treatment of eating disorders in Portland, Oregon, as well as greater Oregon and Washington. I work with children, adolescents, and adults navigating concerns such as anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, and ongoing struggles with food and body image. I also support individuals navigating anxiety, depression, perinatal and fertility-related concerns, trauma, and chronic medical conditions.

Many of the people I work with feel exhausted by the constant mental noise—thoughts about food, body, or self-worth that can feel relentless and hard to escape. You may find yourself stuck in patterns that no longer serve you, while also feeling unsure how to create lasting change. It’s not uncommon to feel both a desire for things to be different and a fear of what that change might mean.

In therapy, I aim to offer a space where you can feel understood, supported, and not judged. Together, we gently explore the patterns that are keeping you stuck, while building skills to navigate difficult thoughts and emotions in a more flexible and compassionate way. My approach is collaborative and grounded in evidence-based treatments, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

I work from a Health at Every Size (HAES)  framework and appreciate the rich diversity that exists amongst different body shapes and sizes. I believe effective treatment for eating disorders and body image issues involves nuanced conversation about navigating a medical system and a culture preoccupied with weight and size.

Before starting my private practice, I worked in medical settings treating individuals with eating disorders, which deepened my understanding of the complex medical, psychological, and emotional aspects of recovery. I founded my practice to create a thoughtful, flexible, and client-centered space where individuals can receive compassionate, specialized support throughout every stage of the healing process.

My hope is to help you move toward a life that feels less controlled by food, body image, or distress and more connected to your values, your relationships, and what matters most to you. I provide individual therapy across the lifespan and tailor our work to your unique needs and goals.
